Ranju Gobbll diaries

When life pins you down for the seventh time,  rise up again the eighth time. Yes.. There I was in the abyss of depression over my tryst with some unsuccessful ventures and a hormonal imbalance which led to depression. While I was writhing in pain,  I realized something had to be done. Languishing in a corner for a motivational speaker who was looked up to by many was not an option.

While I was being treated for my depression and hormonal imbalance, it dawned on me that the author in me was screeching out for expression. Having ghost written myriad books it was time, I penned down mine. But,  what should I write.?Who will listen my voice in a plethora of established and revered voices? Who will care to read what an obscure author-who was trying to battle her depression-would write.

While these questions were raising their ugly heads in my mind,  I wanted to write something that would celebrate friendship,  that would raise a toast to love. And I wanted to do all of that to elevate my life condition. I wanted this journey to be filled with fun and frolic for not only myself but also for my readers. I wanted to write something that would annihilate every ounce of self -doubt,  negativity in me and would serve as a stress buster to my readers. That’s when  my journey to write a romcom,  “We will be together ” began. A journey which I will fondly cherish all my life. While writing my romcom which has all hues of emotions ranging from-love,  passion,  humour,  drama,  separation,  reunion, college life,  matrimony -my depression abated and I was the old amiable Ranju that I used to be.

“We will be together ” , an ode to friendship and love captures the journey of transformation of the female protagonist  Ruhi and the male protagonist Prithvi from being carefree individuals who enjoy their college life to mature adults after facing hurdles in life. The best part of this metamorphosis is that all learning goes hand in hand with situations which are hillarious coercing you hold your bellies and laugh aloud.

Take a look at the blurb:-

Ruhi- a happy-go -lucky, cute girl, all into family, friends- was enjoying her life. However,  as fate would have it,  she found herself in a far away land.

Prithvi,  the studious college goer had dreams of making it big in the robotics world.  But,  as adversity struck, he too found himself in a far away land.

As they –who are as different as chalk and cheese –meet , find themselves at loggerheads. Gradually as they have to depend on each other,  trust burgeons giving way to passionate love.

Will Ruhi be able to meet her family again?

Will Prithvi be exonerated from the false charges.?

Will their love have a happy ending?

Know these answers by reading ‘ We will be together ‘ a romcom which would keep you captivated at all times.

My learnings:-

Woo the doodle :

At the outset,  writing a book could seem to be a herculean task,  however,  with proper planning it becomes a very enrapturing process. I have experienced that whenever I encounter the writer’s block,  doodling has helped me to retain my sanity. So whenever the writer’s block bites you, try drawing random shapes,  lines,  squares, stick people, kittens etc one can squash the writer’s block and will be raring to go. This activity is going to unclog your brain.

I’m the best,  he/she is the best:

Comparing oneself with the voracious writers who have been writing themselves to glory and conjuring up one best seller after another could wear one down. One has to remember that they also started with that one book,  that one aspiration to establish themselves as authors. Each one is different like rose, Lily , dandelions,  so chalk your own path and be remembered by millions.

Hey sanity, stay with me :

Penning down a book asks for one’s undettered commitment,  unwavering patience and flair for writing.  Sometimes,  being overwhelmed with the whole process is going to happen. When that happens and one begins to feel inconsequential,  one has to meditate and proclaim to the universe that ‘ Yes.. I’m going to be a bestseller author ‘ and yes that will happen. Hold your sanity and work on the way you play with words.

Write,  repeat,  write:

Write every day. Anything you do every day gets easier. If you’re insanely busy, make the amount that you write every day small (100 words? 250 words?) but do it every day.

Write even when the mood isn’t right. You can’t tell if what you’re writing is good or bad while you’re writing it.

Write when the book sucks and it isn’t going anywhere. Just keep writing. It doesn’t suck. Your conscious is having a panic attack because it doesn’t believe your subconscious knows what it’s doing.

Stop in the middle of a sentence, leaving a rough edge for you to start from the next day — that way, you can write three or five words without being “creative” and before you know it, you’re writing.

Write even when the world is chaotic. You don’t need a cigarette, silence, music, a comfortable chair, or inner peace to write. You just need ten minutes and a writing implement.

Be positive

Innumerable people advice us to be positive but yes when you are positively chasing your writing goals,  the dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin will ensure that you are happy and get good ideas in galore. I’ve observed that when I am happy,  my writing skills enhance.

Say no to naysayers:

It’s true. In your journey to become a successful writer, you will get well-wishers who will egg you to accomplish your goals but at the same time,  you’ll also meet people who can dissuade you from writing. Their contention would be that amidst myriad author’s,  you will lose yourself. However,  ignore these naysayers. Always know that if you are writing,  the universe, the call of the Providence want that you should write. Say no the naysayers. Follow your instinct and write to the hilt.

EXCERPTS FROM THE BOOK :- “WE WILL BE TOGETHER “

“On… On full moon nights… Zunaifer… toys around with the inhabitants of the suite… You try to admonish her, in few seconds, she will suck all your spirit… You surrender to her, she would lose the thrill and exhilaration of the terror sport…There’s no respite… At one moment… shee… shee would jiggle her form and laugh hysterically in one corner… The next moment… she… woulddd… would… eerily ascend to sit on the reindeer horns wall artefact… tossing around everthing in sighttt… Oh so very spooky…”, Pikks spurted out while almost masquerading like the imaginary ghost Zunaifer.

“Yeah. He would be the deranged’Jigsaw’.I have even arranged a sweaky tricycle for him.I’m sure he will have a blast proclaiming’I want to play a game’; Piyali will impersonate’Chucky’, make sure Ruhi you do her doll makeup and tell her to carry around the baseball bat we have got for her”, quipped Riks surveying the suite decoration done by Piks.

Look Pahada …your logic that coconuts are bombs is crass… Do you think we will guzzle gun powder… Poison… We are normal mortals… Not Shivji… You keep your mouth shut…Guys cmon few moments left for our show to begin… Get going…”, I said, comfortably slipping in my Superman attire which was double my size; I was swimming in the outfit. I aplologize! I should have told earlier to you all about my physical disposition.

I am a lanky, spindly fellow who wallows in self-pity most of the times. I beeseech the heavens to show some mercy on me as my body refuses to beef up. My body can eat up end number of crunches, squats, plank jack push ups, explosive lunges, etc, yet the five packs and six packs refuse to be flattered, instead are hell bent to be on strike. No matter how much I hog, my body cries out that it is still anorexic. I have still not learnt to be comfortable in my skin, begrudging my genes for possessing such a lanky figure and yes, I must admit, all the inferiority complexes that exist in the universe, is present in my six feet skeleton.

“Ohh… Superheroes… It is the call of the providence. The heavens want you all to accomplish this mission for greater good…We call upon our superheroes to exhibit exceptional gallatry in the face of overwhelming enemy bombs(water balloons)… Charge on”, blathered DD plopping on the charpoy; hi

Maybe, It’s Gotham city in me…we just have a bad history with freaks dressed like clowns… superheroes up for some water balloons?”, sniggered Tappe DD’s best friend. And they indiscriminately shot water balloons at us, the balloons happily smacked our back, neck, head, bums making that area blue.

I bounded up to the three naughty heads, jolted and shoved them and they plonked on the ground.

Whacking the three with my fists I hollered, ”Now witness the INFLAMMATION of three sets of bum.”Giggles, incessant laughter rang in the air.

“Prithvi… If you need lessons on how to make girls drool all over you, I’ll be more than happy to lend my services to you.”, quipped Pahada struggling to hold my shoulder.

Whispering… Who’s whispering… Tell me… Show me that you have balls… Ok… You four can sit in the third row. Don’t stoke up my fury, you mice. Fury of a patient man… Nice film.Antonio’s revenge against a band of robbers… Aa… ha… ha… ha… Great watch… You all jokers must watch the film but now ENSCONCE YOUR ASSES ON THE BENCH.LET THE CLASS START.”, schreeched Bhassu with widened eyes, rummaging his hands inside his pocket.

fter several yanks, the leash gave way and the two bulls galloped toward the boys who were now in front of us. The boys saw in horror the bulls approaching and fled from the place leaving Hola, Ruhi and myself exposed to their rage.

“RUN… RUN…”, I whooped running as hard as I could followed by Ruhi and Hola.

“FUN… FUN… THIS IS NO FUN BENAMOR… THEY KILL”, Hola hollered, sprinting with all his might, the bulls scampering after us.

STOP THE CART… STOP THE CART”, I screeched on top of my lungs while Ruhi clung on to me.

“Why should I HOLD MY FART… HOLD MY FART… I DON’T FEEL LIKE FARTING BUT SHITTING…”, Hola hollered trying to control its wheels, to no avail because the cart steered off to a field, hitting a structure made up of hay and straw, on top of which three scarecrows were ensconced

What… Why do you lack self esteem. You are so attractive. I like the way you look but more than that the way you speak. You are so responsible Prithvi. I feel so safe and secure when you are around.”, Ruhi exclaimed as I saw her welled up eyes. How could a girl like me so much? And… Here she is… enumerating my qualities and getting emotional. Maybe it was destined that I come to Galimo and meet Ruhi.

Love should be a force that helps you expand your life and bring forth your innate potential with fresh and dynamic vitality. That is the ideal but, as the saying”Love is blind”illustrates, people often lose all objectivity when they fall in love.
